EDINBURGH AIRPORT is Scotland's largest, welcoming thousands of travelling through its terminals every single day.
It has long been a hot spot for holidaymakers looking to visit far-flung and exotic destinations around the globe.
However, much confusion has been expressed by those coming here over apparent changes being made to the 100ml liquids rule for hand luggage.
What is the 100ml liquid rule for hand luggage and why was it implemented?
The rule states that liquids, aerosols and gels in hand luggage must be stored in 100ml or less in volume or 100g or less in weight containers.
The liquid rules were implemented in 2006 to prevent those with hostile intent from carrying explosive liquids onto planes.
This rule was set to change by 2024 with the installation of new technology in airports throughout the country. However, the June deadline has been pushed back.
Edinburgh Airport has installed these scanners.
Does the 100ml liquid rule for hand luggage still apply at Edinburgh Airport?
According to the Edinburgh Airport website, there are still restrictions on liquids being brought through security in hand luggage.
The 100ml rule applies to deodorants, liquid gel/creams, perfumes, snow globes, mascara, alcohol, lighters and E-cigarettes.
Those bringing baby milk and foods, medicines, duty-free items over 100 ml, laptops, iPads, e-readers and large electrical items such as hair straighteners should remove these from their carry-on luggage so they can inspected.

This comes after the international airport announced that a new scanner removing the need for passengers to follow these rules was installed.
Despite their presence, travellers have been told that the rules regarding liquids remain the same for now despite the implementation of a scanner.
This means the airport is in line with other locations like Glasgow Airport and Prestwick Airport when it comes to these rules and measures.
