Former Doctor Who star Alex Kingston is to star in a production of Joshua Harmon’s comedy Admissions at Trafalgar Studios.
Kingston, who played enigmatic River Song in the BBC series, will take the lead role in the production, which debuted at the Lincoln Center Theater in New York last year.
The play explores ideals and contradictions across liberal America through the story of Sherri Rosen-Mason (Kingston), who is fighting to diversify the student intake as Head of Admissions at a private school.
Sherri’s progressive values are, however, torn when her son is deferred from an Ivy League university, and his friend – who “ticks more boxes” – gains a place.
Harmon’s recent West End credits includes Bad Jews, which made headlines when its posters were banned by Transport for London.
Kingston’s theatre work includes Macbeth opposite Kenneth Branagh and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest with Christian Slater. Her further television credits include hit American drama ER and more recently Sky One series A Discovery of Witches.
The production will run at Trafalgar Studio One from February 28 to May 25, with further casting yet to be announced. The show will be directed by Daniel Aukin.Admissions runs at Trafalgar Studio One from February 28 to May 25.
