One of the doctors charged in the investigation of the death of Matthew Perry is expected to plead guilty in a federal court in Los Angeles. Dr. Mark Chavez, 54, of San Diego, is set to plead guilty to conspiring to distribute the surgical anesthetic ketamine. This comes after signing a plea agreement with prosecutors in August.

Chavez is the third person to plead guilty in connection with Perry's fatal overdose last year. Prosecutors have offered lesser charges to Chavez and two others in exchange for their cooperation as they pursue two other individuals deemed more responsible for Perry's death.

Chavez, who is currently free on bond, surrendered his medical license and passport as part of the conditions. His lawyer stated that Chavez is remorseful and is committed to making amends for his actions.

Additionally, Perry's assistant and an acquaintance have admitted to their roles in helping Perry obtain and use ketamine. They are assisting prosecutors in the case against Dr. Salvador Plasencia and Jasveen Sangha, who have pleaded not guilty and are awaiting trial.

Chavez confessed in his plea agreement to obtaining ketamine through fraudulent means. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison.

Perry, known for his role as Chandler Bing on the TV show 'Friends,' was found dead last year with ketamine identified as the primary cause of death. His struggle with addiction dates back to his time on the popular sitcom.

The investigation into Perry's death has shed light on the illegal distribution of ketamine and the individuals involved in supplying the drug. As the legal proceedings continue, the focus remains on holding those responsible for Perry's tragic demise accountable.
