'Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness' to be one of the longest Marvel films with 148 minutes runtime: Report

Benedict Cumberbatch's 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ may just be one of the longest movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date.

According to reports, the 'Doctor Strange' sequel will have a runtime of an estimated 148 minutes which is around 2 hours and 28 minutes. The news came to light on Ingresso, a Brazilian ticketing website.

If the new update holds true, then 'Multiverse of Madness' would equal Tom Holland's 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' and come in just behind 'Avengers: Infinity War' (149 minutes), 'Eternals' (157 minutes), and 'Avengers: Endgame' (181 minutes).

With the film still undergoing reshoots, fans can expect the film to be longer with a lot more inclusions in the final cut. The film follows Phase 4’s 'WandaVision', 'Loki', 'What If…?', and 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'. Rumours are rife that the movie will crack open the multiverse and could change everything fans know about the MCU.

Besides that, 'Multiverse Of Madness' is also set to provide a launchpad for a handful of future projects.

As the May 6 release date draws close, several plot spoilers and leaks have turned up online. Some of these rumours hint at Tom Cruise playing Superior Iron Man, Tom Hiddleston returning as Loki, Elizabeth Olsen embracing the dark side as the villainous Scarlet Witch, and also teases the return of X-Men mutants along with Wolverine and Deadpool.

Following the success of films like 'No Way Home', Robert Pattinson's 'The Batman' (176 minutes) and 'Zack Synder’s Justice League' (242 minutes), there is no reason to assume Doctor Strange won't push its runtime to the 3-hour mark.

Directed by Sam Raimi, 'Multiverse of Madness' sees the return of Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, and Chiwetel Ejiofor in their respective roles. They will be joined by Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Xochitl Gomez, who is making her MCU debut as America Chavez.
