Doctor joins forces with recipe box as research shows diets are failing

Healthy recipe box service Green Chef has launched a new partnership with NHS Doctor and author of the Doctor’s Kitchen cookbook, Dr Rupy Aujla. As part of the partnership, Dr Rupy has launched four new vegan and vegetarian recipes exclusive to Green Chef.

The partnership and the launch of the recipes comes as research shows that a whopping 81% of Brits who’ve started a diet this year have ended it early, with crash diets and social media pressure key reasons why. More than that, for those setting themselves resolutions or new goals throughout the year, the top two goals are to either eat healthier or exercise more. But research shows that almost two thirds (61%) give up on those goals in less than a month, with almost a quarter (22%) saying that’s the case just after a week. When asked how they feel when they give up on their goals, they reported feeling guilty (31%), sad (27%) and frustrated (22%).

Dr Rupy said: “Setting yourself realistic goals that prioritise your long-term health is absolutely crucial. I’ve focused my recipes on vegan or vegetarian dishes because substituting out animal products means eating far more vegetables and fruits, which contain essential nutrients your body needs. In fact, plant-based diets lead to fewer reported cases of obesity, heart disease and type 2 diabetes, and as a doctor, I can’t emphasise enough just how important packing flavoursome veggies and fruits into your diet really is.

“Often, the feelings we associate with not meeting our goals, be it guilt over what could have been or frustration that you’ve ended back where you started, can be overwhelming. But taking a step back and looking for meal inspiration that’s convenient and fits within your lifestyle, can help to stay on track. You can rest assured that with these recipes, nutrition and healthy eating goals can be made easier and these are dishes that can keep you inspired as we get into the Autumn period.”

Anna Tebbs, head chef and nutritionist at Green Chef, said: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Dr Rupy and have thoroughly enjoyed working with him to create his recipes and understand his point of view from a doctor’s standpoint on the importance of balanced vegan and vegetarian dishes. That’s why we always try to give huge variety with our meals, whether that’s allowing customers to have 30 different fruits and vegetables each week, or enabling them to switch seamlessly between our six diet preferences.

“This all comes at a time where eco-conscious consumers recognise that how and what they eat plays a huge role in the future of the world around them. That means they can balance long-term healthy eating goals via inspiration from Dr Rupy’s recipes, whilst also satisfying their desire to make more sustainable food choices.”

Dr Rupy’s exclusive recipes are available for customers to add to their upcoming box deliveries throughout September and into October. They’ll also be able to get up to 40% off with Dr Rupy’s special discount code: DRRUPYGC40, alongside choosing from Green Chef’s weekly 22 recipes spanning its six dietary preferences across vegan, veggie, flexitarian, pescatarian, low-carb and keto.
