Dockers players stunned at Indigenous All Stars talent

Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir says his players were left gasping in disbelief when confronted with the vast amount of talent they'll be up against when facing the Indigenous All Stars.

A who's who of Indigenous talent will be on display on Saturday, captained by Dockers stalwart Michael Walters.

New Fremantle recruit Shai Bolton will also be part of the All Stars squad, along with fellow superstars Charlie Cameron, Bobby Hill, Jason Horne-Francis, Tim Kelly, Steven May, Kysaiah Pickett, Izak Rankine, Willie Rioli, Liam Ryan and Jy Simpkin.

"We've spoken about some of our advantages that we've got with our connection, and the fact that we've been able to train together and the fact that they've only come together last night," Longmuir said.

"But we've also spoken about the passion which they're going to play with.

"We put their team up the other day for the boys, and a few players were gasping at some of the players that they'll have to defend, especially our backs.

"There's a lot of talent on that team."

Walters underwent knee surgery during the off-season, but he worked hard over the summer to ensure he would be fit enough to play for the All Stars.

The 34-year-old is only slated to play for half of the game given he still isn't fully fit, and he joked he will be doing his best to avoid the runners when it's time for him to go to the bench.

"I'll be trying to run away from them," Walters said with a laugh.

"It's one of those games as a young kid I always wanted to be a part of.

"In 2013 and 2015 I was so close, but got injured just at the line.

"I'm excited, and looking forward to playing against my team the Dockers.

"There's players (on the Indigenous team) I've always admired and always wanted to play with."

Bolton, who recently injured his calf, will also be limited to about half the game as he builds up his loads ahead of round one.

Indigenous All Stars coach Xavier Clarke said he would respect the limits set on his players by their respective clubs.
