Former Fremantle captain Kara Antonio has announced her retirement and will return from injury to play her farewell AFLW game against Hawthorn.
Antonio missed the first nine rounds of the season following hamstring surgery.
After spending most of the season working as the Dockers' forward line coach, the 30-year-old will make her 47th and final appearance at Fremantle Oval on Saturday.
"When you get injured, the worst things probably go through your mind - whether you can keep going and get back," Antonio said in a statement.
"The high performance and medical team have been incredible. To get me in a position to where I'm able to get back and play, I'm very grateful.
"To have my last farewell game and the last game of the season at home is pretty special."
Antonio (nee Donnellan) starred for Melbourne in the exhibition games before AFLW started, then signed for Fremantle as a marquee.
The midfielder was Freo's captain for the first five seasons, winning the club's goal kicking in 2017, when she also earned All-Australian honours.
Antonio will line up in Dockers colours alongside wife Ebony, who returned from a serious knee injury last weekend, one final time.
"I've enjoyed every second of it, the highs and the lows," Antonio said.
"It's made me a better person, a better wife, a better leader, a better friend.
"I'm really looking forward to the week ahead, enjoying it."
Fremantle did not make finals and are eyeing their third win of the season.
