'Do the right thing' - Manchester United fans split over John McGinn transfer rumours

Manchester United fans are split following the latest reports linking Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn with a move to Old Trafford.

The Scotland international has been touted for a move to United in the past, with the speculation ramping up as the club make the midfield a priority over the next few months.

The Telegraph have now reported that United have shortlisted McGinn as a potential signing for the summer, when they hope to have his deal lined up with the arrival of a new manager.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News , United could appoint a new permanent boss before the end of the season, with developments in the process to find a full-time successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag remain the frontrunners to take over at Old Trafford, while Brendan Rodgers is understood to still be under consideration.

And McGinn has been tipped to be one of the new manager’s first signings, with the 27-year-old having no shortage of admirers at United, it's claimed.

Fans remain to be convinced though, especially after a fee of around £40million was touted with McGinn having two years remaining on his contract at Villa Park.

Some supporters feel he could be worth splashing out on, others though feel there are better options for cheaper.

Midfield is likely to be the main area of concern come the summer transfer window, given it has proven to be a problem position for United this season.

Plenty of names have been touted, including the likes of Denis Zakaria, Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham and Amadou Haidara, while the likes of Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek and Nemanja Matic facing uncertain futures.

McGinn could well be added to the list of potential options, although it remains to be seen whether United would value him at the same reported fee as Villa.
