'Do it now' - Liverpool told to launch transfer bid for 'perfect signing' Moises Caicedo

Liverpool have been told they need a player like Moises Caicedo as speculation over a January move for the Brighton & Hove Albion star gathers pace.

The Reds are in desperate need of fresh legs in the centre of the park and of the multitude of midfielders to be linked with an Anfield switch, Caicedo's name is one that keeps cropping up.

The Ecuador international has done little to play down the rumours either. In fact, he fuelled them by seemingly 'liking' a tweet that suggests he would like to join Jurgen Klopp's side.

Brighton, however, are unlikely want to part ways with Caicedo, and their CEO Paul Barber recently insisted they had not received any offers. He said: "I'm pleased to say we haven't had any. Maybe they haven't got my email because I haven't seen any."

Whether Liverpool do get in touch with Barber and Brighton this month remains to be seen. But the Reds have been instructed to do so.

Speaking on ESPN, former USA international Janusz Michallik has outlined why the 21-year-old Caicedo would be the perfect signing for Klopp, whose team head to Brighton on Saturday looking to close the gap on the top four.

Michallik, who won 44 caps for USMNT in the early 90s, said: "Caicedo, for Liverpool, I would do it now, if there’s a way. They need legs.

“That midfield needs legs. And that’s exactly what you’re going to get. A physical player, box-to-box, he can defend, he can attack. We saw his goal at the World Cup.

“Moises Caicedo, the profile for Liverpool, at this moment, they need it now, they need it right away because that’s not going to be easily fixed even when everybody’s healthy. That would be a perfect signing.”
