DNC Day 2 will be led by an unlikely host— Republican strategist and commentator Ana Navarro

As Democratic National Convention continues in Chicago, Tuesday's theme, "A Bold Vision for America's Future," will be guided by an unlikely host— a Republican.

Ana Navarro is Nicaraguan-American political strategist and commentator for several networks including CNN and NBC, where she co-hosts for "The View" part time. But despite her conservative leanings, she is also a fierce Trump critic, recently posting a viral video to her Instagram titled "Things I Trust More than Donald Trump."

Following the announcement, Navarro took to social media to express her excitement at hosting night two of the DNC.

"I can't tell you how much it means to me," Navarro said in a video she posted. "I'm a little refugee girl who fled communism, who fled Nicaragua at the age of eight, found freedom, found opportunity, found a home in America, and for me to have the chance to stand on that stage and help my girl, Kamala, make history and become the Democratic nominee, it's just such a mind-blowing moment."

Navarro has extensive ties to the Republican party. She was a campaign surrogate for the late, former Sen. John McCain and also served as the national Hispanic co-chair for former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman's 2012 presidential campaign. The political strategist also served as former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush's transition team and was his first director of immigration policy.

But despite her previous roles supporting the GOP, she has previously revealed she voted for a Democrat for the first time when former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton ran against Trump in 2016.

The Harris campaign has vowed to gain support from Republicans who oppose Trump, launching an initiative called "Republicans for Harris" earlier this month. The official launch of the program featured endorsements from key Republicans including former Trump White House officials Stephanie Grisham and Olivia Troye.

Other household names hosting the DNC include actors Tony Goldwyn, who hosted Monday night's program, while actors Mindy Kaling and Kerry Washington are set to host Wednesday and Thursday.

Also slated to speak on Tuesday are former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama.

Democrats will try to make the case on Tuesday that the November elections is not just between two candidates, but also between "two very different visions of America."

"While Donald Trump believes our best days are behind us, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz know the best days lie ahead," the DNC said in a statement describing the convention's theme. "Standing in stark contrast to the Trump-Vance Project 2025 agenda designed to take us backward, the Harris-Walz ticket presents a brighter vision where everyone will have a chance not just to get by, but to get ahead."
