DN Exclusive: Loud Music By Drivers In DTC Buses Continues Causing Severe Torture To Commuters

Representational Image

New Delhi: In a number of DTC and Cluster buses, drivers and sometimes conductors too play loud music including even indecent songs causing lot of humiliation to passengers especially ladies.

It can't be that concerned officials do not know about this music-menace by drivers as according to reliable sources, a number of complaints about it are sent to the authorities by passengers. Even the Media, quite off and on, raise this issue. But nothing concrete has been done so far to save the commuters from this nuisance.

To have the first hand information about this music-hazard, Dynamite News (DN) deputed one of its City Reporters to travel in some DTC/Cluster buses and herself do the reality check.

Therefore on 21 December DN Reporter travelled in 4 DTC/Cluster buses and to anybody's surprise and shock, out of these 4 buses the drivers playing loud music in 3 buses.

Following are the details:

1. The first bus the Reporter boarded from

PS Karol Bagh: 10.10 am
Route No. 309
Bus No. DL1PC 9071

The driver in this bus was playing extremely loud music and was not even wearing seat belt. More surprising was that the Marshal, who was a lady, was stading near the driver and enjoying the song instead of asking the driver to stop the music.

2. The Reporter got down from this bus at Jhandewalan and boarded another bus

Jhandewalan: 10.30 am
Route No. 953
Bus No. DL1PD 6022

Here also the driver was playing very loud music. Moreover when the bus stopped at Paharganj Red Light, the driver left the bus, went out and started smoking leaving the passengers puzzled.

The Reporter got down from this bus at Ajmeri Gate.

3. She boarded a bus from Ajmeri Gate. Thankfully there was no music in this bus. It was feeling so good and comfortable.

4. The Reporter got down from this bus at Khalsa College, DB Road and boarded another bus.

Khalsa College, DB Road: 11.55 am
Route No. 318
Bus No. DL1PD 6180

In this bus too the driver was playing exceedingly loud music. Not only this he was also singing with the song and in between whistling and shaking his body also with the rhythm of the song. With goggles on his face he was driving with only one hand; in the other he was holding his mobile. This driver was looking and behaving like a 'gali ka goonda'.

Isn't it the time that concerned authorities wake up, reign in these unruly drivers and thus relieve passengers from this music-menace by the 'majnu' drivers?
