Prayagraj: What was the police doing while Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf were being shot at by three so called ‘journalists’ in front of TV cameras on the night of 15 April? Was that a police negligence? Why was the police taking both the brothers inside the hospital on foot and not in an ambulance or police jeep? Why were both of them allowed to talk to the media persons?
To explore the answers to all these questions, a 5-member Judicial Commission headed by former Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court Dilip Babasaheb Bhosle arrived at Prayagraj on Friday.
According to the Dynamite News correspondent, the Commission went to Dhoomanganj Police Station and Calvin Hospital to gather relevant information about the incident. The Commission appeared to be quite tough during this investigation.
The team headed by former Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court Dilip Babasaheb Bhosale asked police officers many questions about the incident. What was the police response to the firing? How were Atiq and Ashraf murdered in police custody?
The forensic team was also present during the probe by the Commission. The photography, videography and mapping were done of the investigation process. The Commission conducted the probe at Calvin Hospital from 5.45 pm to 6.16 pm on Friday.
Retired Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Virender Singh is Vice-Chairman of the Commission.
