New Delhi: The name of former Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dr Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud for the office of the Chairperson of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) was approved in a meeting held on Tuesday in Parliament House, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Meeting held in the Parliament House amongst PM Modi, HM Amit Shaha, LoP in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and LoP in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge.
Orders would be issued soon.
The Meeting headed by Prime Minster Narendra Modi included Home Minister Amit Shaha, LoP in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and LoP in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge.

Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud retired on November 8.
Presently, Vijaya Bharathi Sayani is the acting Chairperson of NHRC. The last Chairperson of the NHRC was Justice Arun Kumar Mishra, who completed his tenure on 1 June 2024.
