Dmitry Bivol Next Fight: Will Bivol Rematch Beterbiev Or 'Canelo'?

The Dmitry Bivol next fight sees the Russian boxing superstar face Artur Beterbiev in a highly-anticipated rematch on February 22nd. The rematch will once again be for undisputed status at light-heavyweight, with all four world title belts on the line.

Dmitry Bivol Next Fight: Beterbiev vs Bivol Rematch Confirmed For February 22nd

Boxing fans witnessed history as Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev clashed in what was a fight for the ages in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In what was an extremely close fight, the three judges’ scorecards leant in favour of Beterbiev, with Bivol being handed the first defeat of his professional career.

All four world title belts were on the line for Beterbiev vs Bivol, meaning the light-heavyweight division now has a clear #1 and undisputed champion after the conclusion of the fight. However, many fans felt Bivol was hard done by and in fact won the fight. This of course means we could be in for a rematch.

Despite being the marginal favourite with the best UK boxing betting sites, Bivol was unable to defeat his fellow Russian. Given how close the fight was, the rematch has been officially confirmed. This means Dmitry Bivol’s next fight is once again against Artur Beterbiev in a rematch in Saudi Arabia.

Given how close the fight was, boxing fans demanded to see the rematch between Beterbiev and Bivol in 2025. Many people had Beterbiev winning, many had Bivol winning and a quite a few boxing fans even scored it a draw. That just shows how close the bout was.

Fans have their wish, with Beterbiev vs Bivol 2 headlining another stellar Riyadh Season boxing card on February 22nd. The fight is once again for undisputed status at light-heavyweight, with a whole host of incredible fights also featuring on the undercard.

Dmitry Bivol could well be the best 175-pound fighter on the planet. The first Beterbiev fight was so close that many people will in fact argue that Bivol still is the best at light-heavyweight.

Could Bivol’s Next Fight After Beterbiev Be The ‘Canelo’ Rematch?

Although Dmitry Bivol’s next fight sees the Russian take on Artur Beterbiev in their rematch, fans are already speculating about Bivol’s next fight after that. This all depends on the outcome of Beterbiev vs Bivol 2 on February 22nd though of course.

Should Bivol get revenge and win the rematch, a trilogy is highly likely with the scores settled at 1-1. However, if he was to lose to Beterbiev for a second time, you would imagine Bivol’s promoter Eddie Hearn would instead be looking elsewhere.

The Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez will always be a fight that is discussed by boxing fans. Bivol defeated the great Mexican in their first fight rather convincingly, with ‘Canelo‘ looking to avenge that loss ever since. A rematch between the pair could come to fruition in late 2025, depending on both of their individual situations.

Dmitry Bivol won the first fight against ‘Canelo‘ and could well stop the 34-year-old second time around. It is most definitely a winnable fight for Bivol once again, as he showed over two years ago when he comprehensively outboxed the pound-for-pound great.

This seems like the most obvious choice for Dmitry Bivol’s next fight, provided he doesn’t fight Artur Beterbiev for a third time. If His Excellency Turki Alalshikh offers both Bivol and ‘Canelo’ ludicrous money for a super-fight rematch bout, it could well happen in late 2025 or early 2026 for sure.

Time will tell who Dmitri Bivol’s next fight is against after the Artur Beterbiev rematch. However, the rematch with ‘Canelo’ looks the most likely option, if indeed the Mexican wants to move up to light-heavyweight again.
