DK Metcalf takes strange stance after drama vs. Bengals

Last Sunday, when the Cincinnati Bengals beat the Seattle Seahawks, cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt was on the receiving end of a boneheaded play from Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf.

Metcalf threw CTB to the ground after a play, drawing an unnecessary roughness flag that hurt his team.

But with coach Pete Carroll putting all the penalties up on a board as a form of accountability, Metcalf this week didn’t seem too bothered by his name being up there.

“It’s just a board to me, I’m not going to change the way I play,” Metcalf said, per PFT’s Mike Florio. “If you look at the penalties, there’s a taunting, unnecessary roughness, facemask, holding, and I think it was one more in there. I’m doing pretty good if I look at it and judge myself knowing how I play and just try to be consistent and have clean hands or whatever the case maybe, but I’m not going to change who I am as a player or a person.”

Metcalf added this: “I don’t feel like I was a problem or I need to make progress in a certain area. Football is a violent sport and it’s my one opportunity to be violent on game days, I’m just going to continue to do that.”

If nothing else, it’s interesting to see the perspective of recent Bengals opponents when it comes to big moments.

For the Bengals, Metcalf’s flag was a big helper during the victory and the game as a whole was proof that CTB can win bully matchups like this against the likes of Metcalf.
