Djed Spence Tottenham transfer revealed as Nottingham Forest Wembley winner in deadline day move

Former Nottingham Forest favourite Djed Spence has chosen his destination for the rest of the campaign before the January window closes.

The 22-year-old will join Rennes on a half-season loan, according to our sister publication football.london. The deal will not include an option to buy as Tottenham Hotspur still believe he can have a long-term future at the club.

Spence is said not to be keen on a permanent transfer either as he sees his future at the North London outfit. That would have put off suitors in the Premier League who wanted to sign the right-back.

The former Forest loan star only joined Spurs in the summer in a £12.5million deal from Middlesbrough, which could eventually reach £20m with add-ons. But he has found game time hard to come by under manager Antonio Conte, who is yet to hand him a start.

The England U21 international chose Rennes from a group of five clubs that submitted loan offers, which also included Spanish side Atletico Madrid and Italian outfit Sassuolo, and he will link up with Tottenham teammate Joe Rodon at the French club for the remainder of the campaign.

Spence will have his medical in France on transfer deadline day before wrapping up the deal. The player will get plenty of game time with injuries in Rennes' right-back area.
