Djed Spence stance on Tottenham transfer as Nottingham Forest face summer battle

Nottingham Forest loanee Djed Spence would be interested in a summer move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to reports.

The full-back has flourished at the City Ground this season after signing on a season long loan from fellow Championship side Middlesbrough last year. He made a total of 46 appearances in all competitions throughout the campaign, including playing the full 90 minutes of the weekend’s play-off final victory over Huddersfield.

Even before Forest’s promotion to the Premier League, Spence looked set to move to the league in the summer, with speculation rife over his future. The Reds are expected to be keen on making his move permanent, but are likely to face a lot of competition for the player.

One of the teams to be heavily linked is Tottenham. Antonio Conte has been promised funds to build his squad for Champions League football next season.

Reports claim that Spurs are among a number of clubs to be watching the player this summer with football.london saying that Borussia Dortmund, Roma, Newcastle and Brentford join Tottenham and Forest in eyeing the player. A price of around £16 million has been mentioned.

The report adds that Spence would be ‘interested’ in a summer move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It is though said that the 21-year-old is cautious of the playing time he would get in moving to a bigger club, meaning that he would be looking for assurances of regular first team football.

Speaking after the play-off final, Spence confirmed that he would be open to a return to Forest next season. "I would love to stay, but it's not in my hands. We'll see what the future holds,” he told NottinghamshireLive.

He simply answered with “Hopefully” when asked if he will be back in the Garibaldi shirt again next season. If that is to be the case, it seems that Forest could have a transfer fight on their hands.
