Djed Spence has sent a special message to Nottingham Forest fans following his memorable spell at the City Ground.
The right-back was a revelation last season on loan from Middlesbrough, lighting up the Championship as the Reds secured promotion. He was integral to Steve Cooper’s side as they went from being bottom of the table to finishing fourth, followed by success in the play-offs.
The 21-year-old will go down as a Forest hero for the part he played, having made 46 appearances and scored three goals - including a scorcher in a 3-1 victory over QPR. And it seems the feeling is mutual.

Spence has now completed a move to Tottenham Hotspur, penning a five-year deal. But, with the switch confirmed, he posted a message to Reds supporters on social media.
Writing on Instagram, he included a heart emoji next to “Nottingham Forest” as he wrote: “What a massive Club, what a team & what special fans. We came from the bottom and made it all the way to the top. We turned dreams into reality and I can’t thank you all enough for the special journey we all shared together.
“I’m looking forward to seeing you all back at the Famous City Ground. Once a Red always a Red.”
The defender tweeted a similar message, with Forest’s official Twitter account replying with a red heart emoji. Putting pen to paper for Spurs ends something of a protracted transfer saga, with Spence having attracted much attention from a number of clubs while impressing for the Reds.
He won’t have to wait long for a return to Trentside. Tottenham are the visitors for Forest’s second home game of the Premier League campaign, on August 28.
