Djed Spence scores incredible goal in Nottingham Forest win as forgotten midfielder makes loan move

It's the morning after the night before in which Nottingham Forest produced an excellent comeback to defeat QPR 3-1 at the City Ground.

These are the latest Reds headlines as compiled by NottinghamshireLive...

Djed Spence scores 'ridiculous' 30-yard screamer for Forest against QPR

Nottingham Forest completed an incredible turnaround as they came from behind to beat fellow promotion-hopefuls QPR 3-1 at the City Ground.

Goals from Djed Spence, Ryan Yates and Brennan Johnson clinched a big three points for Steve Cooper’s side. It came courtesy of a brilliant second half from the home side.

QPR had a decent opportunity of their own early on, though. Ethan Horvath made a good stop to thwart Lee Wallace with 10 minutes on the clock, following an inviting cross from Gray.

Just when it seemed as though Forest were on top, however, it was the visitors who made the breakthrough. Gray latched on to a pass from Chair and drove the ball beyond Horvath after turning Figueiredo, to put Rangers ahead.

Ten minutes into the second half, however, the hosts were level. And it was thanks to an absolutely incredible goal. Teed up by Zinckernagel, Spence found himself in space - to cries of ‘shoot’ from the crowd. He did. And how.

It was a fabulous strike by the right-back. Hit with venom from range, it dipped and had Marshall scrambling as it sailed into the top corner for 1-1.

With seven minutes to go, however, it was 2-1 to the Reds. James Garner’s corner was flicked towards goal by Yates to give the hosts the lead. Johnson then made sure of the three points when he finished off a good move in the final minutes.

Arter joined the Reds from Bournemouth during the summer window of 2020. He has played 14 times in the Garibaldi since then, although the last time he featured was in the 1-0 FA Cup win over Cardiff City 12 months ago.

He signed a three-year deal when he made the switch, which is due to expire in the summer of 2023. But he was one of a group of players told they were free to move on last summer, as Forest looked to trim their squad.

Leigh Wood confirms Nottingham Forest appearance date

Nottingham's own world champion, Leigh Wood, has confirmed when Forest fans will get to see him and his WBA featherweight belt.

Wood, 33, successfully fought off Irishman Michael Conlan last Saturday night at the Motorpoint Arena to keep hold of his WBA featherweight title. Despite a stumble in the early rounds, Wood fought back against his challenger and landed a powerful strike in the 12th round to knock-out Conlan and send him out crashing out of the ring - fortunately, he has fully recovered.
