It did not take D.J. Moore long to show why he will become Justin Field’s No. 1 wide receiver option in the 2023 NFL season.
Moore, the former Panthers wideout who was part of the blockbuster deal that sent the No. 1 pick in the ’23 draft from the Bears to the Panthers, caught a screen pass from Fields and took it 62 yards to the end zone to give Chicago its first touchdown of the game.
Moore’s spectacular touchdown reception capped a three-play, 75-yard drive to begin the Bears’ scoring in their first preseason game. In the next Chicago possession, Fields connected on another short pass to Khalil Herbert for a 56-yard touchdown reception to end his day.
Moore was drafted at No. 24 in the ’18 NFL draft. Prior to Saturday’s scoring drive, the former Maryland product had recorded 364 receptions for 5,201 yards and 21 touchdowns in 80 games since entering the league.
