Over the last six months beloved Radio Clyde DJ George Bowie has seen a surge in the number of fake Facebook giveaways using his name and is now asking his fans to be vigilant.
The scam pages have been targeting fans by offering them the opportunity to win £1000 on the run up to Christmas.
While many have clocked onto the suspicious accounts, some have been caught out by the scammers and mistakenly handed over bank details. The DJ has said him and his team are getting accounts shut down 'almost daily'.

George told Glasgow Live: "This is happening every couple of days.
"It's not just me but anyone with a social media presence is being hit with it. It is horrible.
"There's always one or two people who fall for it and that's what really grates me.
"I seem to be getting one a day at the moment. They shut one site down then there is another one the next day. It's almost a daily basis, it's horrendous.
"I'm trying to get millions of things done. I don't want people to get caught out because money is tight and it's a horrible thing to be scammed."
The overwhelming number of people being impacted by the fake George Bowie accounts means that the DJ feels as though he is unable to actually do legit giveaways of his own
He explained: "I've actually had to pin a message at the top of my page saying there are loads of scams and I don't do any competitions on social media.
"That's been a problem as well. We had Yes Sir I Can Boogie out and we were trying to get some publicity, we thought about getting people to make TikTok videos and giving a prize to the best one.
"I said I can't do that because I'm clear that I don't do competitions on social media because of the scammers I can't do anything like that. The minute I do the lines are blurred.
"It's frustrating, I've had clubs and festivals that I'm doing want to give away tickets and I've had to say no.
"It's horrible that I have to do that."
Getting rid of these imposter pages has proven to be difficult and the man behind GBX Anthems hopes more can be done to combat the scammers.
The DJ added: "They do nothing.
"We have a whole department that deals with it but even they struggle sometimes.
"They get further than I do, when I message Facebook they usually get back and say we've investigated it and we are not shutting it down.
"Why not? They are scamming people. I think social media companies, particularly Facebook, need to take more responsibility."
The radio icon is now asking his fans to do their bit to ensure that no one else becomes a victim to the vile scammers.
George said: "Please report it because they might do something about it.
"If enough people report it to Facebook they will take it down eventually.
"The best thing to do is report it, not just for you but for more vulnerable people who might fall for it. Even if you come across and think it's a scam report it because it helps someone else."
