Dizzee Rascal announces new Newcastle date on anniversary tour

Tickets will go on sale this week to see Dizzee Rascal in Newcastle after it was announced the city has been included as one of three new dates the rapper has added to his tour.

The Mercury Prize-winner will be at Utilita Arena on October 8 where he will be stopping off on the tour that is a celebration of the 20-year anniversary of his debut hit Boy In Da Corner. The extra dates, which also include Nottingham and Cardiff, follow on from the success of his sell-out show at London's 20,000-capacity O2 Arena in March, which won him four-star reviews.

The artist, who was a headliner at Lindisfarne Festival in 2021, said of the milestone moment for his groundbreaking first album: "It's mad how it's 20 years since Boy In Da Corner! That album changed my life and I'm forever thankful to everyone who's shown love in that time."

And of his decison to extend the tour, he said: "Before I ever did the first show at the O2 Arena, I already knew there was no way this could stay just in London." He is "looking forward to celebrating 20 years of Boy In Da Corner and my musical journey with the whole of the UK" and he added: "Roll on October!”

Tickets for Dizzee's date in the city will go on general sale at 9am this Friday, June 16 on the arena website here but keep an eye out on Ticketmaster for pre-sale opportunities from Wednesday.

Among the artists also performing at Utilita Arena this autumn will be rap star 50 Cent who himself is marking the 20-year anniversary of his debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’. The Final Lap Tour will bring him to the city on November 18 with special guest, and pal, Busta Rhymes plus fellow rapper and singer-songwriter Jeremih.
