DIY SOS' Dylan Myers dies aged 11 after lifelong battle with undiagnosed syndrome

DIY SOS star Dylan Myers has died aged 11 following a lifelong battle with a syndrome that stunted his growth and left him with the mind and body of a baby.

The child, who was dubbed the 'real-life Peter Pan', passed away on Friday with his parents taking to Facebook to share the tragic news.

Despite Dylan spending most of his life in and out of hospitals, no doctors were able to diagnose Dylan.

His parents, Danielle and Richard, took to the Facebook page they made for him to announce the tragic news to followers.

Writing on Dylan's Story, they said: "It’s with the heaviest broken hearts that we let you know our beautiful brave heroic little Dylan took his last breath in our arms at 14:10 this afternoon.

"He fought so very hard to the bitter end but physically couldn’t fight anymore."

His parents continued: "It was Dylan’s story and he wrote every page and enjoyed every minute of his too short little life. His amazing smile and giggle will live on in our hearts forever but unfortunately this story has had come to an end.

"Sleep tight baby boy. Until we meet again. Broken forever but always together #dylansstory."

Along with the heartbreaking post, his parents shared two pictures of them holding his hand and another of his pass card to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

He received constant treatment by endless health professionals for his long list of complications.

Complications he suffered included organs which are mirrored on the opposite side of his body, daily apnea attacks (stops breathing), seizures, arthritis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and being Immune Suppressed.

When Dylan was eight years old, he weighed just 12kg and was 89cm tall. He wore the same size clothes as a one-year-old.

There were times when Danielle and Richard had to resuscitate Dylan when he 'died in their arms' due to his apnea attacks.

Dylan was in DIY SOS in 2016 when the show collaborated with Chelsea Flower Show to bring a garden to the children's hospital.

Dylan was one (alongside two others) of the children chosen to be in the show.

At the time, his mother explained that Dylan wasn't aware that he was going to be on television. She said it was all about creating memories for her.
