DIY mum transforms council house into 'amazing' family home in just one week

A mum has transformed her council house into a 'beautiful' family home in the space of just one week.

After living in temporary accommodatio n for a year, Sarah Mcleod and her daughter couldn't wait to move into their new two-bedroom house and put their own spin on the place.

The parent put her DIY skills to the test and documented the incredible renovation on her TikTok @gingersaz, with many praising her 'amazing' work.

Sarah got started on the property by getting rid of the "ugly textured wallpaper" using a handy wallpaper steamer stripper, the Mirror reports.

She made good progress on day two, stripping the rest of the wallpaper and giving the ceiling and skirting boards a lick of paint.

At the end of day three, she had successfully finished painting one of the rooms a light grey colour.

It was time to tackle the kitchen on day four, as the beige paper from the walls was stripped and the appliances were installed.

Both bedrooms were almost complete too by the time she clocked in for the night.

"It's finally coming together," the mum said when the plush grey carpets were fitted on the fifth day of the renovation.

However, she was still struggling to progress in the bathroom as she said it was the "worst to strip by far".

Despite being forced to give up on the bathroom, day six was a "win" as the flooring in the kitchen had been fitted - and it looked great.

And then it was officially time to move in.

People rushed to praise her in the comments after seeing the final result, with many sending their best wishes.

One person said: "You’ve done a fab job! It’s been great watching the progress you’ve made! I hope you’ll be very happy there xx"

Another wrote: "Aww this looks amazing congratulations on your new home honey."

A third commented: "Well done, you have made a beautiful home for your babas."
