Diverse Song Choices Highlight Cultural Range At DNC Roll Call

The Democratic National Convention’s roll call featured a diverse selection of songs that reflected the rich cultural tapestry of the United States. DJ Cassidy curated a playlist that captured the essence of each state, district, or territory as they cast their votes.

Alabama's delegation was represented by Lynyrd Skynyrd’s iconic anthem “Sweet Home Alabama,” while Florida paid tribute to one of its own with Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down.” California's choice was the West Coast classic “The Next Episode” by Dr. Dre featuring Snoop Dogg.

Georgia brought the house down with a lively performance by Atlanta’s own Lil Jon, who performed his hits “Get Low” and “Turn Down for What.” The energy was palpable as the crowd joined in the celebration.

Director Spike Lee, a proud Brooklyn native, joined New York Gov. Kathy Hochul in announcing their state’s votes. The duo stood united, embodying the spirit of solidarity and shared purpose that defined the convention.
