Harry Kane admitted Tottenham Hotspur must find way to better manage big games after enduring nightmare starts both against Newcastle United and Liverpool.
Five goals down after 21 minutes of their 6-1 hammering at St James' Park last Sunday, Spurs were again swept aside in the opening stages of their trip to Anfield after conceding three times inside the opening quarter of an hour to Jurgen Klopp's side.
The Lilywhites, who have now been leapfrogged in the table by Liverpool after their dramatic 4-3 defeat on Sunday afternoon, have not won on their travels since the end of January and are now facing serious questions over a perceived lack of ability to rise to the challenge whenever competing away from the capital.

Commenting on Spurs' latest capitulation, Kane told Sky Sports: "It was a dreadful start, the first 20 minutes. [It is] obviously not the first time its happened this season. We need to start understanding moments better and big games better: you're coming away to Anfield - just like we were going away to St James' Park and the same thing happened. They [Liverpool] had a lot of the ball, but I feel the majority of chances came to us.
"The last ten seconds is hard to put into words how that happens and why that happens. We have to just move on from it and try to get ready for next week. Over the course of this season, we have come back in games and to do it here, away at Anfield, shows what we are capable of. To have the starts we have had is just hard to put into words and talk about."
Often accused in the past of being a team that lacks character, the Tottenham talisman added it is down to him and his team-mates to prove people wrong about what people associate a Spurs side with.
"There’s only so many words you can use," admitted Kane after the full-time whistle. "You know the bottom line is you need to go out there prove it not to be the case. We’ve conceded pretty much in the first minute in the last three games we’ve played and it’s down to us to go away and find out the reason why and how we can improve the situation.
"The table doesn't lie and where we are doesn't lie. We’ve got some fantastic players and some fantastic moments but, overall, as a team we’re not playing well enough collectively. We need to find a way to get through moments when things don’t go our way and we need to find a way of starting games away from home where you’re not under the cosh straight away. We deserve where we are and that’s what the league table is there for. This one is going to be hard to take and we have to look at it back and try to move on."
