THERE is continued disruption across Scotland’s transport network on Sunday due to bad weather.
The Met Office said yellow warnings for wind, which came into force at 7am on Saturday, are expected to remain in place until 9pm on Sunday.
CalMac, which operates ferry services on Scotland’s west coast, said 25 of its 30 routes were either cancelled or affected by disruption on Sunday.
The cancelled routes include:
- Ardmhor (Barra) – Eriskay
- Ardrossan – Brodick
- Berenray – Leverburgh
- Claonaig – Lochranza – Tarbert (Loch Fyne)
- Lochaline – Fishnish
- Mallaig – Armadale
- Mallaig – Lochboisdale – Oban
- Mallaig – Eigg – Muck – Rum – Canna
- Oban – Castlebay
- Oban – Coll – Tiree
- Oban – Lismore
- Tarbert (Loch Fyne) – Portavadie
- Troon – Brodick
Elsewhere, P&O Ferries said journeys between Larne and Cairnryan have been cancelled until at least 8pm on Sunday.
ScotRail meanwhile said that speed restrictions would be in place for a number of routes across the network, including:
- Glasgow – Oban/Mallaig
- Glenfinnan – Mallaig
- Crianlarich – Oban
- Ardgay – Wick via Thurso
- Lochluichart Station – Kyle of Lochalsh
In a post on Twitter/X, the rail operator said: “Due to high winds, speed restrictions will be imposed on several routes.”
The Met Office’s yellow warning covers the majority of Scotland with gusts of up to 70mph possible in the north and west of the country.
