There will be disruption on the Metrolink for rush-hour commuters this afternoon.
Trams between Bury and Crumpsall have been cancelled since this morning because of an overhead line fault near Whitefield. A replacement bus service has been running throughout the day.
Transport bosses have now said the disruption will continue until the late afternoon as repairs are carried out. Buses are expected to be busier as people leave school and work.

The replacement bus service will continue to run every 20 minutes between Crumpsall and Bury. Ticket acceptance is in place on rail services between between Piccadilly and Victoria Station, and the 41, 59, 97, 98, 135 and 524 bus services. Trams are running between Altrincham and Crumpsall via Exchange Square only.
TfGM’s Head of Metrolink, Danny Vaughan, said: "We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused. Our engineers are working hard to fix the fault and return to normal service as soon as possible, however we don’t expect services to resume until later this afternoon at the earliest.
"This will impact people returning from work and children leaving school and means bus services will be busier than normal between around 4 and 7pm. Anyone planning to use Metrolink should check the latest information before they travel and allow extra time for their journey.”
