Dispersal order issued in town after increase of anti-social behaviour

Police have been given temporary powers to ban anyone from parts of Frodsham following a spate of anti-social behaviour in the area.

The dispersal order, imposed under Section 34 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, makes it an offence for any banned person to return to a specific area for up to 48 hours. The order will remain in place until 5.59pm on Wednesday, March 8.

The order affects an area of the town spanning from the River Weaver to the junction of the B5152 Sandstone Trail, enveloping Bridge Lane, High Street, part of Fluin Lane, and areas leading up towards the motorway.

Officers will also be deployed at key hotspot areas in order to disrupt anti-social activity, Cheshire Police said.

Inspector Brian Green said: “We have seen an increase of anti-social behaviour in the area and I want to be clear that we are doing all we can to stamp out this crime in Frodsham.

“We know that anti-social behaviour can have a devastating impact on neighbourhoods, and I want to be clear that we will do all we can locate those responsible and robustly deal with those found to be committing this crime.

“Officers will be patrolling key areas around the town and I would urge anyone with concerns to please approach an officer. I would also urge anyone who has children in the town to be fully aware of where they are and educate them about the consequences of committing anti-social behaviour and how it won’t just affect them but also their family and those around them.

“I’d like to thank the public for raising issues with anti-social behaviour to us, this helps us not only take appropriate action to address the issues but also to build a picture of the activity around us.”

Anyone with information about anti-social behaviour in their area is urged to contact Cheshire Police online or call 101.
