Disney+ to launch three shows with BTS, including filmed concert, docuseries

There’s some dynamite news for BTS fans.

The K-pop group and Disney+ are collaborating on three separate projects, their teams announced Monday, bringing the act’s global celebrity to even higher levels.

Among the projects are “BTS: Permission to Dance on Stage – LA,” a concert film of their November 2021 show at Los Angeles’ Sofi Stadium, which included performances of “Butter” and “Permission to Dance.”

Docuseries “BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star,” expected to be out next year, “follows the incredible journey of 21st century pop icons BTS.”

“With unprecedented access to a vast library of music and footage over the past nine years, the series will feature the daily lives, thoughts and plans of BTS members, as they prepare for their second chapter,” Disney said.

Travel reality show “In the Soop: Friendcation” will send BTS’ V, Itaewon Class’ Seo-jun Park, “Parasite” star Woo-shik Choi, Hyung-sik Park and Peakboy on a surprise trip.

“This collaboration represents our creative ambition — to work with iconic content creators and top stars in Asia Pacific so their talent can be enjoyed by mainstream audiences in multiple ways,” Jessica Kam-Engle, Disney’s head of content for Asia Pacific, said in a statement.

“We believe these new titles will captivate consumers worldwide and look forward to introducing more music content on our service.”

The announcement comes just weeks after BTS announced they were going on hiatus to focus on solo projects. Their management team has since insisted the band remains together, even as they branch out.

In October, following the massive success of the dystopian “Squid Game,” Netflix announced plans for more than 50 original titles from Asia by 2023, including local language programs from South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Indonesia.
