If your three wishes for Christmas include a great family film to settle down to after lunch, then the BBC genie has granted it — with Will Smith blockbuster Aladdin.
Making its mainstream TV debut on BBC One after the King's first festive address to the nation at 3pm, the 2019 hit directed by Guy Richie brings panto energy to the post-pudding slump.
Will stars as the genie, with Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as his love interest Princess Jasmine.
A source said: "This live-action Aladdin is full of magical fun and will entertain every generation after the pudding has been eaten."

Other film firsts on the BBC include kids' favourites Pokemon Detective Pikachu, A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon as well as Trolls: Holiday in Harmony.
And there will also be classics such as When Harry Met Sally, Goodfellas, Mary Poppins and Ghostbusters.
The line-up was revealed as two in three viewers claim they watch The Muppet Christmas Carol every year.
And one in three say the 1992 hit, marking its 30th anniversary, is their favourite Michael Caine film, according to a RadioTimes.com poll of 2,762 adults.
