Disney's Hercules featured rude moment in fight scene that went over our heads as kids

Hercules was released 24 years ago and has been a family favourite ever since.

But some Disney fans have recently noticed the animated movie is not quite as wholesome as they initially thought.

It turns out there's a rather X-rated moment in one of the fight scenes that we all missed when watching it as children.

In the film, as Hercules completes his training to become a 'true hero' with Phil, he heads off to Thebes and along the way saves Megara from a large centaur, named Nessus (also known as the River Guardian).

During the fight scene, Nessus receives a nasty bump on the head after being punched by Hercules and hit in the head with several horseshoes.

During a rewatch, some have pointed out that the growing bump on top of the River Guardian's head looks rather phallic.

This went right over our heads as kids and I'm sure many others.

But it seems it wasn't the only adult moment we didn't pick up on at the time, there was also a joke about Oedipus, after Meg and Hercules see a play.

And previously, fans of the movie have pointed out that the statues Meg walks by as she sings the iconic song, I Won't Say (I'm In Love) are not as innocent as they initially seem.

The large works of art appear to show lovers embracing - but a TikTok user named @elldramaticaromantic revealed something rather 'concerning' about some of the other ones.

She says: "Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa, hold on...

"So I never noticed this before, but in Hercules, in the part where she sings I Won't Say (I'm In Love) there's a part where she says 'I thought my heart had learned its lesson' and the statues that she passes by, these aren't love scenes.

"These are assault scenes from Greek mythology, like no wonder she's trying to be cautious!"

She captioned the video: "Paying more attention to the art in Hercules and oh my gosh."
