'Star Wars but make it Aardman' sounds like the type of cinematic universe mash-up you'd find created by AI. But a new teaser trailer for Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 has given fans of the Bristol-based Wallace and Gromit creator a glimpse of how a Wookiee would look in its classic stop motion stylings.
Streaming on Disney+ from May 4, Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 is Lucasfilm's latest anthology series collaborating with animation houses from around the globe, allowing them to explore the Star Wars universe in their own inimitable fashion.
Comprising nine short films, each made by a different studio, the series also includes projects from Studio Mir and Triggerfish. According to Empire, Aardman's contribution, titled I Am Your Mother, is set right after the original trilogy and tells the story of young pilot Anni and her mum Kalina as they enter a parent-child starship race.

There's competition from fellow racer Julan Van Reeple and Wedge Antilles, voiced by Denis Lawson, who plays a small but pivotal role in the early Star Wars films, makes a return to the galaxy far, far away, only this time in clay. Writing on Instagram, Aardman said: "We can’t wait for the galaxy to see this."
Speaking to Empire, the film's director Magdalena Osinska said: “We were looking for some kind of idol that Anni would be looking up to.
"We settled on Wedge Antilles because he fitted in terms of the Star Wars era. Also, he’s done pretty amazing things in Star Wars, but he wasn’t maybe as recognised [for it].
"I think he has more lines in our film than the original Star Wars trilogy. We really wanted to give him the limelight he deserved.”
Other actors lending their voices to I Am Your Mother include Maxine Peake as Kalina Kalfus, Daisy Haggard as Dorota Van Reeple Charithra Chandran as Anni Kalfus and Bebe Cave as Julan Van Reeple.
And fans cannot wait to watch it. Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: "It’s going to be the best episode".
Another said: "I really enjoyed “I am your mother”, congratulations to all that worked on this!"
Aardman’s ‘I Am Your Mother’ arrives on Disney Plus on May 4 as part of Star Wars Visions Volume 2.
