Disney Magic cruise return date to Liverpool confirmed

The Disney Magic cruise ship is set to come to Liverpool once again.

Liverpool Cruise Terminal confirmed the ship is set to return once again on September 14. The cruise ship has 11 decks, holds 1,754 passengers and is almost 1,000ft in length.

The ship has visited Liverpool many times before and previously offered staycation experiences where people could set sail on a the Disney cruise for two, three or four nights. On board, passengers were immersed in Disney’s famous storytelling, with plenty of themed entertainment, dining and recreation for all the family.

The new experience was launched as a way of allowing people to enjoy Disney Magic, while staying close to home. People could meet and take pictures with characters such as Disney princesses, Toy Story and Marvel heroes, and Captain Mickey.

Disney stories came to life on stage and there’s playgrounds, movies, and video games for the kids, plus spa facilities and cocktails for grown ups. However, it is unknown if Disney will offer this experience this year.

In previous years when Disney Magic has visited Liverpool, the ship has attracted visitors to the Pier Head while docked in the city. The events have included a fireworks display and children have been able to meet Disney characters.

On this year's cruise season John Mawer, head of Cruise Operations at Cruise Liverpool, said: “We are looking forward to marking the 15th birthday of Liverpool’s Cruise Terminal later this year, and what better way to do it than ensuring record ships and passengers visiting our shores and enjoying the famous Liverpool welcome.

"We also want 2022 to be the year when we make progress in reducing the environmental impact of the ships on the city, there’s a long way to go but talks are already underway and I’m excited to be a part of the conversation on behalf of Liverpool."
