Disney have announced that Toy Story will get yet another instalment.
Following the success of the previous four films, as well as the Lightyear spinoff, the movie giants announced that Toy Story 5 is in the pipeline. In the same announcement, they revealed that sequels for other hit films Frozen and Zootropolis are also in the making.
Bob Iger, Disney’s new CEO, told company investors in a call: “I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises.” At this stage, there are no details available on release dates, creative teams, or even confirmation of the titles for any of the sequels announced on the call.

But once the news hit Disney fans, it received a mixed response online. Some fans were delighted with the news and couldn't wait to get their cinema tickets, while others were disappointed in Disney and accused them of "milking" the Toy Story franchise.
One Twitter user said: "Toy Story 5? I can just about stomach trilogies if the story demands it but come onnn. This should have ended at 3." Another said: "Disney is still milking franchises that have dried up a while ago. Toy Story ended at 3, 4 was unnecessary. 5 is overkill."
A third said: "I'm okay with Inside out and Zootopia having a sequel, but Toy story 5? They're just milking the brand for easy money."
Meanwhile, others loved the idea, as one user said: "Why are people complaining about Toy Story 5? Toy Story 4 didn’t have an ending fit to end the franchise and was much worse than all the other Toy Story movies, a Toy Story 5 to be as good as the original 3 movies would be amazing."
A second said: "I’ll happily be in the theatres watching Toy Story 5." Someone else added: "Yay, for Toy Story 5 and Zootopia 2!"
The original Toy Story was released in 1995, introducing children everywhere to Woody, Buzz Lightyear and all the other memorable and beloved characters. Taking the premise of what if toys came to life, it was an instant hit and has remained popular over the years 28 years since.
