Disney Dreamlight Valley to welcome new character and quests in first big update

Disney Dreamlight Valley fans will no doubt be ecstatic to hear that Scar is coming. As part of the game's first major content update, developers have confirmed that The Lion King baddie will be the latest villain to call your valley home.

The life sim, from mobile games developer Gameloft, has been met with huge fanfare across the internet. Players have been digging, fishing, mining and cooking their way to creating the perfect Valley, with all of their favourite characters wandering around.

Developer Gameloft has confirmed that it expects the update, the first major update since the game's release, to launch "in around three weeks". As well as welcoming Scar, developers hope to fix several issues including bugs, missing rewards and general crashes.

It will come as a welcome relief to many players who have experienced regular hiccups as they try to complete quests and unlock rewards. The update will also add new features to the photo app, allowing your avatar to make new poses.

"We've been blown away by the excitement you've brought to the valley, but also know there are still issues to be tackled," Gameloft wrote. "We know it can be frustrating to run into bugs or issues, so we appreciate your patience.

Developers released a roadmap that teases the arrival of Woody and Buzz (Gameloft/Disney/Pixar)

"There are a ton of fixes coming and many are thanks to your helpful issue reports! Stay tuned for more status updates in the coming weeks and thanks again."

The life sim was first released in early access at the beginning of September and has been lovingly compared with Stardew Valley and lockdown hero Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It is available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch and does offer cloud save if you want to play on the same valley over multiple devices.

However, while in early access the game does come with a cost. The base-level Founder's Edition comes in at around £25, and while the deluxe and ultimate editions come with extra clothing and furniture, they cost significantly more

For those who want to give the game a taste before splashing out the cash, it is available on Xbox Game Pass for Xbox consoles and PC. For new subscribers, Game Pass can cost as little as £1 for the first month.

For future updates, developers have released a roadmap that teases the introduction of Woody and Buzz from Pixar's Toy Story and a whole new realm to unlock and explore in a "late Fall 2022" release. However, as of yet, it's unknown when this will be expected.
