Disney+ and Hulu are About to Disappoint a Lot of Their Subscribers

Walt Disney and Hulu are making a movie that seems right out of Netflix’s book -- several beloved shows will be pulled from the streaming platform on May 26. Deadline has reported that a large slew of content will be removed from streaming platforms just a week after the purge was announced. Bottom line: if you love any of these shows or movies, it’s time to schedule a binge-watch before it’s too late.

On May 10, Walt Disney (DIS) CFO Christine McCarthy told shareholders that the company was “in the process of reviewing the content on our DTC services to align with the strategic changes in our approach to content curation.” The company also announced other ways to create more revenue and cut back on spending, including a rate increase for monthly subscriptions and even combining Disney with the company’s newly-acquired Hulu network.

One particular Disney series, the sequel to the beloved 1988 fantasy epic ‘Willow,’ your chances to catch the 2022 sequel series are running out. Other Disney+ content being removed includes ‘Big Shot,’ ‘Turner & Hooch,’ ‘The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers,’ ‘Just Beyond,’ ‘Diary of a Future President,’ ‘The Mysterious Benedict Society,’ and ‘The World According to Jeff Goldblum.’

As for Hulu, a smaller number of series are scheduled to drop from the service, including ‘Y: The Last Man,’ ‘Dollface,’ ‘The Hot Zone,’ ‘Maggie,’ ‘Pistol,’ and ‘Little Demon.’ Removed content mostly consists of short-running series and direct-to-streaming movie releases.
