A couple have left several people disgusted after they apparently licked the inside of an ice cream tub before putting it back in a shop freezer.
Tequan Hines and his partner, Asia, are being slammed for their viral clip which begins with the couple approaching the freezer section of the unknown supermarket.
The couple, from Portsmouth, Virginia, US, then take out the tub, open it up and are both seen supposedly licking the contents when they are sure no one else is looking.
Asia is the first one to 'lick the ice cream' and when Tequan is confident no one is looking, he joins in too while discreetly filming the 'prank' on their phone.
He asks Asia to hold the tub over her shoulder so he can have a taste and can be heard saying: "Let me taste it. Let me taste it."
In the video - which has since been deleted from their Instagram accounts - Asia looks down the freezer aisle and says: "Hurry up, hurry up!"
They then place the tub back in the freezer before running away, trying to hold in their laughter.
Many have hit back over the couple's 19-second video, which was later shared on Twitter, with some calling for the pair to be arrested stating that what they did was a crime.
One person said on Twitter: "So when are they getting locked up."
While another replied: "Just remember this is a felony."
"'20 years in jail, I'm so serious," another Twitter user said.
Terrence Ford replied: "What?! What is wrong with people? Why is this even a thing? This is disgusting."
Licking objects and putting them back began as a viral prank back in 2019 and many social media influencers began to share their own takes on the trend but it quickly backfired.
D'Adrien L'Quinn Anderson, of Port Arthur, Texas, was one of them.
He was sentenced to 30 days in jail in March 2020 for running his tongue over a tub of Blue Bell ice cream at a Texas Walmart before returning it to the shelf, reports CNN.
He was also given an additional 180 days probation over two years, and ordered to pay a $,1000 fine and $1,565 in restitution to Blue Bell Creameries.
A person who 'adulterates or causes to be adulterated any food, drink, prescription or over-the-counter medicine, cosmetic or other substance with the intent to kill or injure any individual who ingests, inhales or uses such substance' can be charged with a Class 3 felony, according to Virginia state law.
An individual can also receive a fine of up to $100,000 and between five and 20 years imprisonment.
