'Disgust' over viral video of Jimmy Savile impersonator at Highland home

A VIRAL video where a man dressed as disgraced paedophile Jimmy Savile impersonates the TV presenter in his former Highland home has sparked outrage.

In a video viewed by more than 1.1 million people on the popular social media platform TikTok, a hillwalking influencer known as arcticscrambler shared the widely condemned clip.

The video shows the man behind the account exploring the abandoned Allt-Na-Reigh cottage in Glencoe, which is the former home of Savile.

He starts the video by walking into the home while saying: “I’m just going to see Savile's abandoned house today, see what it’s all about.”

Once inside he then calls for “Jimmy”, at which point a second man dressed as Savile jumps out and begins to chase him shouting: “Get out my house.”

The video which was posted on June 26 has since been “liked” 81,000 times with more than 1200 comments on TikTok alone.

It has since also been uploaded to other social media platforms.

Savile was outed as one of Britain’s most prolific sex offenders after his death in 2011.

The Dame Janet Smith review, which was published in 2016, identified 72 victims of Savile in connection with his work as a TV presenter at the BBC.

It’s believed up to 20 of his victims were abused at the house in Glencoe which is set to be demolished and redeveloped after years of vandalism.

The video has sparked outrage among local representatives as Highland councillor Angus MacDonald spoke to The Press and Journal about how the people in the area will be happier the sooner the old cottage is torn down.

He said: “This is disgusting, a poor taste stunt from one of Glencoe’s darkest periods.

“The sooner the building is demolished the happier people in the area will be.”

The Highland Council have been approached for comment.
