Tottenham fans were far from happy as former favourite Mauricio Pochettino was announced as new Chelsea head coach on a two-year contract, with the option of an extra year. The Argentinian coach is tasked with taking the Blues forward after a dismal Premier League season has seen them finish mid-table, though with plenty of promising youth at Cobham.
Pochettino will likely look to calm stormy waters at Chelsea, who have undergone plenty of change in the past year from ownership to management to the playing staff. Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, Chelsea’s co-sporting directors, told the official website: "Mauricio’s experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities and character will serve Chelsea Football Club well as we move forward.
"He is a winning coach, who has worked at the highest levels, in multiple leagues and languages. His ethos, tactical approach and commitment to development all made him the exceptional candidate."

However, from a Tottenham perspective, there will naturally be a sense of "what if" as well as some resentment towards the decision makers at the club. Spurs are on the hunt for a head coach of their own and given that the manager who guided them to a Champions League final and, arguably, wasn't handed enough time before his dismissal was available, many aren't happy.
Plenty took to social media to vent their frustrations at the announcement as well:
@lb094132: "Whichever way we go I will never understand why Daniel Levy didn’t at least contact him. Just a ludicrous decision."
@keirsco1: "So much more crushing than I expected."
@COYSonny7: "Judas."
@stockarje: "Disgraceful from Levy."
@Zizou3437: "Snake."
@one8y2: "It’s a cruel world we live in."
@Simply_Spurs: "Ah, peace and quiet. The season is finally over. We are free of the endless pain and suffering. We did it. How could Tottenham Hotspur possibly ruin this fine bank holi-."
