'Disgraceful' dirty campers dump tent and litter in Loch Lomond beauty spot sparking fury

Bosses at Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park have hit out after visitors left a campsite in a filthy state.

With summer just around the corner, the park is a popular spot among tourists near and far who want to get close to Scotland's natural beauty. However, messy campers were blasted for failing to clean up after themselves.

Taking to Instagram, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park shared photos of the aftermath on its official account. As well as dumping a tent, litter can be seen strewn across the grass.

Alongside the "disgraceful" images, the national park wrote: "There are stunning places to camp here in the National Park, please leave them that way.

"Abandoned campsites like these are treated as flytipping and can result in a £200 Fixed Penalty Notice or a fine of up to £30,000. If you’re camping this weekend, help us protect and conserve this special place by leaving no trace of your visit."

Before long, the post had received over 220 likes and dozens of comments from fellow Instagram users. Many were quick to share their thoughts on the "absolutely terrible" state of the camping spot.

One wrote: "C’mon to flip folks, Scotland is beautiful, let’s keep it that way. Enjoy the sunshine and scenery but leave the place as you found it."

A second shared: "Absolutely terrible! Irresponsible camping just gives weight to those who push for stricter by laws and our rights to wild camp.

"Not to mention the effect on the environment."

"Disgraceful that people think this is acceptable," echoed a third, while a fourth agreed: "This makes me so angry and sad."
