Rangers were fortunate not to find themselves behind for a second time during their 1-1 Scottish Premiership draw at Dundee.
Philippe Clement’s side huffed and puffed but it was another lacklustre overall display on their travels, taking their league away tally to just three wins from 11 attempts.
Dundee struck first in the match, taking the lead just six minutes in when on-loan forward Oluwaseun Adewumi deftly finished a cross from Josh Mulligan.
The visitors did find a response with Vaclav Cerny equalising just past the half-hour mark during a swift counterattack. Even though Dundee manager Tony Docherty expressed frustration that his team should have been awarded a penalty moments earlier, following a foul by Rangers' debutant Clinton Nsiala on striker Simon Murray.
Despite expectations of a Rangers resurgence, they struggled to maintain pressure, while Dundee appeared more poised to secure a winning goal on the break against a makeshift defence.
Adewumi came close to netting a second for Dundee, converting another cross from the right, but his effort was ruled out for offside after Murray's run was deemed marginally early - a decision that pundit Chris Sutton described as "so tight."

Discussing the call from referee Calum Scott and his officiating team, Sutton told Sky Sports: "Who's drawing the lines on that? I don't know if my eyes are deceiving me, but that is so tight isn't it.
"I'm told it's factual but is it?"
Questioned whether it was Dundee's desire that helped them take points off of Rangers, the outspoken pundit replied: "For there for be a desire difference that sort of tells you where Rangers are at right now."
Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd chimed in by adding: "If you look at Dundee, loads of injuries but they still turned up for their work tonight. They asked questions, players had to play out of position. As did Rangers but I think when you look at Dundee, they are the lesser team and they've had to come here with a game plan and execute that to come away with something.
"They could have nicked it but if you go back to Rangers, it's not good enough. Dundee deserved their point tonight and could've easily nicked it. As for Rangers, I don't know where they go from here. It's only going to get worse, so it's over to the Rangers board because they are going to have to do something."
