A thug chased and attacked a disabled man with a walking stick after he defended two children in north east London, according to his family.
The victim, in his 40s, had to have stitches in his head after being attacked with a sharp object in Maury Road, Stoke Newington at 6.30pm on Monday.
An argument broke out when the suspect told two children to move out of his way as he carried a large piece of furniture down the street.
The victim, standing nearby, told him: “They are only kids leave them alone”.
According to his family, the furious attacker then said: “I’m gonna knock you out, wait I’m coming.”
He then chased the man striking him in the head with a “sharp weapon”.
His sister told The Standard: “He came running back at him.
“My brother has a walking stick he could not go any faster.”
She said her brother has since been released from hospital after getting stitches put in his forehead.
His sister added: “I hope someone comes forward, he should not get away with hurting an ill man.”
A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of an assault in Holdcroft Road, N16.
“Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service.
“A man, aged in his 40s, reported being assaulted by an unknown man who had left the area before police arrived.
“His injuries were not life-threatening.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.”
