Jennifer Grey has had a huge transformation as she takes on a new role as cult leader Gwen Shamblin.
The Dirty Dancing actress, 62, has shared a sneak peek at her new look as she got to work channelling the late diet guru for the new project. It left Jennifer looking unrecognisable as she donned Gwen's signature blonde hair style alongside her cold and expression-free look.
Jennifer shared the image to her Instagram, captioning the post: "'Call me gwen #starvingforsalvation #gwenshamblin @lifetime wig: @robpickens hair: @lynelapiana monitor grab: @nancydarabennett."
And a number of her 368,000 followers were quick to comment on the look. Among them was actor Michael J Fox, who wrote: "Ok….. you have my full attention."
Jenna Kristina also said: "Omgggggg stop?!!?!?!! I’m so excited for this," while NCIS star Sasha Alexander commented: "AH-MA azing!!!!"
It's the second time Jennifer has seemingly shared her new look, with the first coming last week. At the time, the star donned the same blonde hairstyle while wrapped in leopard print with a full face of makeup on.
That image was captioned: "Up to no good in Montreal."
The production, titled Starving For Salvation, will take a look at the controversial diet guru who died last year after her plane crashed into a lake.
The film is set to follow Gwen's success with her diet programme as well as her megachurch Remnant Fellowship in Tennessee and her death.
Lifetime said of Gwen: "At the peak of her power and influence, Gwen demanded that church members alienate themselves from anyone who was not a member, banished those that became overweight, threatened legal action against dissenters, and advocated for strict punishment of those who failed to follow church tenets."
E! reports the production is one of four new Lifetime projects which each take a closer look at some of the world's most notorious women. Other portrayals include How to Murder Your Husband author and killer Nancy Crampton-Brophy, murderer Jodi Arias and Sherri Papini, who faked her own kidnapping in 2016.
Gwen Shamblin: Starving for Salvation debuts on Lifetime on February 4, 2023.
