Directors Apologize For Supporting Brian Peck In Drake Bell Case

Drake Bell

Directors Beth and Rich Correll have issued a public apology to Drake Bell and his family for their past support of Brian Peck, who was convicted of sexual abuse. The Corrells expressed deep regret for their decision to defend Peck in court, acknowledging the pain and trauma caused to Bell and others. They stated that had they known the truth at the time, they would not have written letters in support of Peck.

The Corrells emphasized their commitment to child safety on set and expressed sadness over the revelations in the documentary 'Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV.' They praised Bell for his bravery in coming forward and extended their heartfelt apologies for unintentionally supporting Peck.

Beth and Rich Correll, known for their work on shows like 'The Amanda Show' and 'Drake & Josh,' were among the individuals who wrote character letters for Peck, who served time in prison and was registered as a sex offender. The Corrells clarified that they had no involvement in Peck's casting on 'The Suite Life of Zack & Cody' and were unaware of his criminal history.

Nickelodeon responded to Bell's revelations by expressing support for him and emphasizing their commitment to investigating complaints and maintaining a safe work environment. Bell, however, criticized the network's response as inadequate, questioning their sincerity in addressing the situation.

Peck, who has not commented on the recent developments, was terminated by Disney Channel upon the discovery of his conviction. The network reiterated its dedication to upholding high standards and ensuring a safe environment for all individuals involved in their productions.
