The summer months in London have left very little to be desired — August might better be referred to as Autumn in 2023. But if your mind has already turned to selecting chic treats to make the colder months that little bit more palpable, you needn’t look further than Harrods.
Dior, the Parisian fashion house, has launched a month-long series of pop-ups at the Knightsbridge department store. Open now, and set to run until August 27, the medley of new spaces celebrate creative director Maria Grazia-Chiuri’s new autumn winter 2023-2024 collection, first shown in February this year.
And if you find yourself wandering down Brompton Road, it’s safe to say you cannot not miss it. Sprawled across Harrods’ famous red brick facade, a vast Dior poster displays a hand drawn map of Paris; it is the Plan de Paris motif, which was first designed by house founder Christian Dior in the 1950s, and runs through the ready-to-wear clothing on offer, and is splashed on bags and homeware.
On the catwalk, which took place is a multicoloured cocoon set designed by artist Joana Vasconcelos using Dior fabrics, the print came out as over-the knee dresses, long skirts and even as an umberella.
The print has crept inside Harrods, too. Specifically, it covers the first library-inspired boutique, one of the three new pop-ups in store. Elsewhere, find a gift shop catering for friends and family present shopping, as well as a cabinet of curiosities which showcases the new season leather goods.
It might feel early to start prepping for winter, but all signs are pointing to the fact we might be best served by preparing for the incoming chill.
