What made Diogo Jota angry against Chelsea as Kepa sent Liverpool message

Liverpool completed the second leg of a still-possible quadruple by beating Chelsea in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Kostas Tsimikas converted the decisive penalty after Alisson Becker saved from Mason Mount as the Reds won a dramatic shoot-out 6-5 following an absorbing goalless draw. The result means Jurgen Klopp’s side have claimed the domestic cup double with a Champions League final to come.

But there was plenty that went unnoticed or under the radar during the 120 minutes - and more - at Wembley.

Diogo away, please

A competitive game was played in great spirit by two teams giving their all. But there was one instance during extra time when matters boiled over somewhat.

Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger was becoming so overly familiar with Diogo Jota as they awaited a throw-in that the Liverpool forward, no doubt aware shirts are supposed to be swapped after the final whistle, had no option but to give the defender a piece of his mind, referee Craig Pawson eventually intervening.

Not saying Rudiger was psyched up for the occasion, but towards the end of the game he punched the corner flag when winning a goal kick. Blimey, imagine if he'd scored...

Robbo keeps it safe

The celebrations were extensive on the pitch and in the dressing room after the game from Liverpool, and continued as they wandered through the mixed zone - the area where they pass the waiting media hoping for an interview - before boarding the team coach.

Andy Robertson, winners' medal around his neck, was tasked with carrying the cup on to the bus, while Fabinho, although injured, joined in the festivities while wearing a Liverpool top. Not quite John Terry-esque full kit, mercifully.

It wasn't so much fun for Romelu Lukaku, though, despite being told by one Wembley operative he had won the 'best trainers of the day' award as he trudged past. The grunted, dismissive response spoke volumes.

Beret good for Joel

There was plenty to enjoy for eagle-eyed Liverpool supporters during the post-match jubilation on the Wembley turf, ranging from Thiago Alcantara and Harvey Elliott wearing Mohamed Salah masks and Roberto Firmino kung-fu kicking his way towards the Reds fans.

But perhaps the most amusing was the beret sported by Joel Matip as he paraded around the pitch, Virgil van Dijk in particular tickled at the sight of his fellow centre-back sporting a new look.

Who thought to bring such an item to the game? And how did it end up in the possession of the players? We should be told.

Thiago gets them going

The travelling Kop certainly played their part, with the pyro display after the penalty shoot-out triumph a sight to behold.

It was, though, a tense and nervous occasion. And, as he prepared to start the second half of extra time, Thiago saw fit to whirl his arms encouragingly in a successful attempt to get the Liverpool supporters going for one final push.

Much earlier on, there had been an amusing moment when, as the teams were read out, the name of Kepa Arrizabalaga was cheered by Reds followers. Clearly, some are never going to forget what happened in the League Cup final...
