Diogo Dalot names three traits Manchester United players showed vs Brighton

Diogo Dalot thinks Manchester United's players showed personality, quality, and the ability to perform under pressure in Sunday's win against Brighton in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Brighton are enjoying an impressive campaign and they defeated United on the opening day of the season, which meant bouncing back at Wembley after a harrowing loss against Sevilla was not guaranteed for Erik ten Hag's side.

However, United were able to progress to the final of the FA Cup after a tense 120 minutes and penalties, with Victor Lindelof converting the winning spot-kick to set up a Manchester derby final on June 3.

Ten Hag spoke of the importance of responding against Brighton and Dalot, talking to MUTV after the game, reflected on the penalty shoot-out, while he also provided insight into how the team prepared for the game.

"It's a big moment, you have to feel that responsibility and show some personality," Dalot said. "But I don't think it's anything to do with luck. I don't believe in that, I believe in hard work and since the first day of pre-season, everyone has practised penalties.

"So I think there was a feeling that the time would come one day and that we would have to be ready. I think everybody showed quality, some character under pressure, because it's not easy, especially next to Brighton fans screaming at you.

"You have to focus, but we showed personality and I'm really happy with everyone that we scored the penalties and we're in the final. Usually, I decide last minute [where to place a penalty] but before the Sevilla game and yesterday we trained penalties.

"I felt that side was more comfortable, so I choose one side, I believe in it and strike it strong so the keeper cannot get near it. I'm happy that went in."
