Diogo Dalot explains how Erik ten Hag has influenced his form for Manchester United

Diogo Dalot wants to repay Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag for the confidence he's instilled in him this season.

Dalot became first-choice right-back under interim manager Ralf Rangnick last year and he retained that status for the new campaign following Ten Hag's appointment, which has seen him start in every Premier League game when he's been available.

Bruno Fernandes and David de Gea are the only players to have recorded more minutes across all competitions than Dalot and the full-back is now an established member of the first-team, four years after he was signed for £19million.

The 23-year-old has gone from strength to strength this season, making tremendous improvement by working under Ten Hag, who he admitted has given him 'confidence', which is something he's desperate to repay on the pitch.

"The confidence that he's given to me shows the work I've been doing as well," Dalot told club media. "I've been trying to give it back to him, the confidence that he's been giving me since the beginning of the season. With him, we have a lot of space for improvement and he's a manager that demands a lot from the players.

"This is the way I like to work, so I think it's a good match and it just brings me more responsibility to keep improving and being a better player. I've just tried to be fit [playing every game], doing what I can to recover well between games.

"I know this is a big, big season and a long season, with the schedule, there are a lot of games to cover and I just try to be on the best fitness level to help the team."
