Diogo Dalot breaks silence on Manchester United contract situation

Diogo Dalot insists now is not the right time to think about earning a new Manchester United contract, although the right-back admits he is loving life at Old Trafford.

Into the final 12 months of his current agreement, Dalot has been a solid performer under Erik ten Hag so far this season. United do hold the option to extend the Portugal international's deal by an additional year, however, such is his form, improved terms have been suggested to reflect his vastly-improved status within the squad.

Dalot is reportedly on Barcelona's wish list - while several other European clubs are thought to be monitoring his situation as the 23-year-old prepares for his final domestic games before heading to the World Cup in Qatar with his international teammates.

Dalot was pressed on his future during an interview with Sky Sports. He said: "I mean, I just think this is not worth thinking about too much at this time. We are in the process of where we think we have to improve our game as a team and focus on the club.

"Individuals will have to come [secondary] at this time and there is also a World Cup coming. I don't think that it is the time to think about this [new contract]."

Dalot added: "I'm just happy that I'm helping this club. I love to play for this club, and I think that I show that every single time I step onto Old Trafford and every time I wear this badge. This is the most important for me [right now]."

Dalot signed for United from Porto in 2018 when Jose Mourinho was manager. He has now played 81 games for the club in all competitions, grabbing two goals and five assists.
